This is a picture I took with my Praktica of a kid during one of my school's programs to help the poor kids in Brazil. He had just arrived, and was extremely serious and sad. When he left he had a huge smile on his face. I thought that was pretty cool...
a very nicley composed shot. The balance of contrast is just superb and well it's just a nice shot, the look on the kids face convays that sadness . nice shot.

wow this picture almost choked me up the second that it loaded. the expression on his face says it all ... and the fact that its monochrome sets the mood just right ... im glad he came out with a smile though ... must've felt good
nice photography...perfectly coveys the sadness of the situation...

Perfect focus on that leading eye, and the hood compliments the composition real well (as if you set that up or something). What I've always appreciated about photography with a subject of children is that you see truths and an integrity that you don't often find in adults. As soon as you learn to lie, to be alone, you just about dash all hopes of everyone being outwardly understood. Kids are great about that. Great photo!
